ICES 2026 to Hold in Ibadan, Supporting Makinde-Led Govt’s Education Vision

The ancient city of Ibadan is set for a major turnaround in its education sector as the Ibadan City Educational Summit 2026, tagged ICES 2026 holds in the 3rd week of May.

The summit, slated for the Mini Mapo Hall, Aleshinloye , is themed Repositioning Education for Excellence, Innovation, and City Development

ICES 2026 will assemble 700 delegates from 200 invited schools across Ibadanland, 120 public and 80 private schools, to chart a new course for education in the city.

“This is not just another talk shop. We are bringing principals, teachers, 250 selected students, SBMC and PTA executives, SUBEB and TESCOM officials, traditional rulers, NGOs, and the private sector together to diagnose our problems and commit to solutions,” he said.

What to Expect at ICES 2026

  1. Digital Push: ICT training for 250 students on coding, digital literacy, and online safety.
  2. Teacher Upgrade: Capacity building for 300 teachers with new manuals on 21st-century teaching methods.
  3. Reward System: One-year scholarships for 20 indigent students and awards for outstanding teachers and schools.

As Ibadan prepares to host ICES 2026 in the 3rd week of May, stakeholders are optimistic that the summit will mark a defining moment for education in the city. With 200 schools, 700 delegates, and a clear focus on ICT, teacher development, and student empowerment, ICES 2026 promises more than dialogue , it seeks to deliver action. The success of the summit now rests on collective support, as organizers call on government, corporate bodies, and well-meaning individuals to invest in a vision that puts Ibadan’s children and classrooms first.
