The Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government and candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North State Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Lateef Adebare Akorede, has called on Nigerians to renew their commitment to the ideals of democracy by embracing service-driven leadership, integrity and accountable governance.
In a statement issued on Friday to commemorate the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, Akorede said the significance of the day extends beyond marking Nigeria’s democratic journey, stressing that it should serve as a reminder of the collective responsibility of citizens and leaders in building a better society.
According to him, “As we commemorate Democracy Day, let us renew our commitment to building a society where leadership is defined by service, representation is driven by integrity and governance remains accountable to the people.”
The council chairman expressed appreciation to the people of Ibarapa North and residents across Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa orth State Constituency for their support for the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that the governor’s developmental strides have continued to transform communities across Oyo State.
Hon. Adebare said the confidence reposed in Governor Makinde by the people has contributed significantly to the successes recorded by the administration, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.
The council boss urged residents not to relent in their support for policies and programmes aimed at advancing the welfare of the people, adding that sustainable development can only be achieved through cooperation between government and citizens.
The APM state assembly candidate also reaffirmed his commitment to providing purposeful and people-oriented representation if elected in 2027, promising to champion initiatives that would accelerate development and improve the living conditions of constituents.
He assured the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North that the constituency would witness continued development by this time next year, stating that ongoing efforts and strategic engagements would yield tangible benefits capable of improving socio-economic opportunities and enhancing the quality of life across the constituency.
