The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has formally presented Hon. Olakunle Akinsete as its candidate for Ibadan South West Constituency 11 for the 2027 general election.
Known across the constituency by the rallying slogan “Tè Fún Shètè”, Hon. Akinsete is being described by party leaders, community stakeholders, and constituents as “the name beyond what many people see” a grassroots leader whose work predates politics.
Speaking during the thank you visit at the APM local government meeting in Ibadan, party leaders said Hon. Akinsete’s nomination was based on merit, consistency, and deep grassroots connection.
“For years, Hon. Akinsete has been on the ground in Ibadan South West. He has supported students, empowered artisans, and intervened in community issues without waiting for a title. That is why we say he is the name beyond what many people see,” an APM chieftain stated.
The “Tè Fún Shètè” movement, which translates to “Put The People First”, has become popular in wards across the constituency. Party members say it reflects his leadership philosophy of service before self.
“Tè Fún Shètè is not a slogan. It is a commitment. IBSW Constituency 11 deserves a representative who will bring bills, attract projects, and be accessible to the people,” Hon. Akinsete said.
He also pledged to work closely with the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and other party candidates to ensure victory for APM across Oyo State in 2027.
APM Party Leaders commended the choice of Hon. Akinsete, saying the party is deliberately fielding credible, grassroots-tested candidates.
“We are not presenting strangers to the people. We are presenting those the people already know. With candidates like Hon. Akinsete, APM will project Oyo State beyond,” the chairman said.
Party leaders disclosed that mobilization and ward-to-ward engagement will begin early next year as campaigns for the 2027 general election draw closer.
Residents, market women, and youth groups in Ibadan South West welcomed the announcement.
“We have seen him before. He doesn’t just appear during election. That is why ‘Tè Fún Shètè’ is moving in every corner now,” a youth leader from Beere said.
With the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, expected to release the timetable for the 2027 general election soon, APM says it is set to run an issue-based campaign centered on service delivery and accountability.
