Accord National Secretary Denies Authorising Primary at A3 Hotel, Says Kunle Busari Properly Cleared

The National Secretary of the Accord party, Hon. Adebukola Abiola Ajaja, has said the party’s governorship primary that produced Hon. Kunle Busari followed due process, with the exercise held across Oyo State, but denied authorising any exercise held at A3 Hotel.

Speaking on the outcome, Ajaja stated that “Kunle Busari was properly cleared and no one withdrew and the party decided to go for direct primary.” She said the direct primary was conducted across Oyo State with participation from party members in all zones.

She added that the party leadership had settled on the direct primary format for selecting its candidate.

However, she distanced the national secretariat from a separate exercise reported to have taken place at A3 Hotel. “As the National Secretary, I didn’t authorise nor approve anybody to conduct primary in A3 hotel,” Ajaja said.

The statement suggests an internal dispute over the conduct and venue of the primary, even as Busari has been declared the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

Busari defeated Oriyomi Hamzat and Fatai Owoseni in the primary process recognised by the party leadership to emerge as candidate.
