New Year, New Resolve: Ibadan South East Chairmanship Aspirant Owonifaari Felicitates Muslims on Hijrah

Hon. Abimbola Oladimeji Owonifaari, Chairmanship Aspirant for Ibadan South East Local Government, has sent warm greetings to Muslim faithful in the local government and across Oyo State on the occasion of Hijrah, marking the Islamic New Year 1448 AH.

In his Hijrah message on Wednesday, Owonifaari described the new Islamic year as a time for reflection, renewal, and recommitment to values of peace, unity, and service to humanity. He urged residents of Ibadan South East to use the period to pray for progress, security, and development of the local government.

“As we enter a new Hijrah year, I enjoin all Muslim brothers and sisters in Ibadan South East to imbibe the lessons of migration which Prophet Muhammad SAW taught us — courage, sacrifice, patience, and dedication to a just cause,” Owonifaari said.

The aspirant noted that Hijrah represents more than a calendar change, but a call to personal and collective transformation. He called on the people to embrace tolerance, support one another, and work together for the growth of their communities.

Owonifaari also prayed for peace and stability in Oyo State and Nigeria at large, adding that his aspiration for the chairmanship of Ibadan South East is rooted in delivering people-centered governance that respects the faith and aspirations of all residents.

He wished Muslims a peaceful and blessed new Islamic year, saying, “May this Hijrah bring prosperity, good health, and divine guidance to us all. Ibadan South East will be greater when we unite in purpose.”

Hijrah 1448 AH began this week, with Muslims worldwide marking the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Makkah to Madinah over 1,400 years ago.
