Hon. Akinsete Olakunle, the APM candidate for Ibadan Southwest Constituency 2, on Thursday night hosted friends and key stakeholders to a dinner where he presented a data-driven roadmap for the constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.
The engagement, described as an evening of camaraderie and strategy, was used to interact with supporters and outline plans for what he termed “purposeful, people-centered leadership” for the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Akinsete presented a comprehensive slide on the journey of his movement and detailed his policy direction if elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly.
A major highlight was a statistical breakdown of Ibadan Southwest Constituency 2, which covers Wards 7 to 12. According to the presentation, the constituency has 352 polling units, with Ward 12 recording the highest number at 133 units.
The constituency also hosts two premier federal tertiary institutions, the Federal College of Agriculture and the Federal College of Animal Health & Production Technology and 11 major economic hubs and markets. The markets listed include Challenge, Molete, Oke-Ado, Ogunpa, Odo-Ona, Mobil, Apata, Labaowo, Cocoa House, Agbekoya, and Oke-Bola/Seventh Day.
Speaking on the data, Hon. Akinsete said the figures represent more than statistics.
“These numbers aren’t just figures on a slide—they represent the real livelihoods of our traders, the aspirations of our students, the energy of our youth, and the welfare of our families,” he stated.
He noted that understanding the structural layout of the constituency would enable tailored policies, particularly in areas of business support for market men and women, youth skills acquisition, and quality representation at the state assembly.
Hon. Akinsete expressed gratitude to his hosts and team for their support, adding that the engagement was part of structured steps toward building a constituency “that works for everyone.”
He is running for the seat of Member, Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan Southwest Constituency 2, on the platform of the APM.
