Lateef Adebare Akorede as its candidates for Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency and Ibarapa Central/North State Constituency respectively, following a successful and unopposed primary election.

The duo emerged on Thursday, May 28, 2026, through a massively supported and unopposed primary election conducted at Oke-Agogo Methodist Primary School, Igbo-Ora, with party faithful, stakeholders and delegates from across Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency participating in the exercise.

Ibarapakan, who is the incumbent member of the House of Representatives representing the constituency, clinched the APM ticket for the House of Representatives to continue representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, while Hon. Akorede secured the party’s ticket for Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The primary election was fully monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alongside party leaders and electoral officers assigned to oversee the exercise in the two local government areas.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, the APM Chairman in Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Alphonso Ayoola, described the primary as peaceful, transparent and reflective of the overwhelming confidence party members have in the two candidates.

According to him, the emergence of Hon. Adepoju and Hon. Akorede demonstrated the unity and growing strength of the APM across the federal constituency ahead of the 2027 polls.

INEC officials present at the exercise were Mrs. Yusuf Olawunmi, Electoral Officer for Ibarapa North and Mr. Olowookere Abiodun, Electoral Officer for Ibarapa Central, who monitored the accreditation, voting and collation processes during the primary election.

Also involved in the conduct of the exercise were Hon. Sola Adegbenjo, who served as Returning Officer for the primaries in Ibarapa North and Mr. Taye Obey, the Returning Officer for Ibarapa Central.

The returning officers subsequently declared both aspirants winners after receiving unanimous endorsement from accredited delegates across the constituency.

In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Adepoju appreciated party members, delegates and leaders for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them that he would continue to pursue people-oriented representation and inclusive development across the constituency.

In his remarks, Hon. Akorede expressed gratitude to party faithful for the trust placed in him, promising to justify the mandate through quality representation, grassroots engagement and commitment to the welfare of the people.
