Youth coordinators fault Hon. Yuisuf Adebisi, outgoing lawmaker, back BARUWA for Ibadan South West Constituency I seat

..say BARUWA’s grassroots presence gives him edge to win and deliver in 2027

Youth coordinators across the six wards of Ibadan South West State Constituency I have faulted the performance of the outgoing member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Adelani, saying his tenure lacked the consistency and development they expected.

In a joint statement issued on Friday, the coordinators said their assessment was based on their experience across Wards 1 to 6 during the legislative term and his effect towards the poll, sighting that going into new party and we must avoid the trap that can make us loose election.

“From what we observed on the ground, there was no consistent engagement and visible development at the ward level,” the statement said. “Representation should be about being present, responsive, and delivering projects that directly impact our people.”

The group said the perceived gap in engagement informed their decision to support Hon. Abiodun Adekunle BARUWA as the candidate for the 2027 election.

Hon. Yusuf Adebisi served two terms in the House of Assembly. During that period, Hon. Abiodun Adekunle BARUWA stepped down on the directive of party leaders, acting on Governor Seyi Makinde’s instruction.

Ahead of the third term, the youth coordinators said the decision to back BARUWA reflects the need for inclusion and recognition of his continued commitment to the party.

According to the coordinators, BARUWA stands a better chance of winning and delivering because of his accessibility, consistent involvement in youth and community programmes, and strong mobilisation structures across the constituency.

“He is on the ground and easy to reach. That makes it easier for us to channel our concerns to the Assembly,” one of the coordinators said. “With his track record and the support we are building in all six wards, we are confident he will win and deliver on education, youth employment, and community development.”

The coordinators said their focus now is to mobilise across the constituency to ensure the PDP retains the seat in 2027.

Party leaders in Ibadan South West have said unity and issue-based campaigns at the ward level will guide their strategy for the election.
