Akande Calls for Calm as Ibadan South West LG Addresses Residents, Shop Owners , Denies Vandalizing NRC Properties, Says Demolition Was Lawful

…Peaceful Meeting Held Over Alalubosa Road Expansion Controversy

The Executive Chairman Ibadan South West Local Government Hon.Kehinde Adeyemi Akande has called for a peaceful meeting following the speculations flying around that the chairman has vandalized the properties of Nigerian railway station, demolished churches and shops at Alalubosa,Aleshinloye Ibadan. He held a peaceful meeting between the Local Government and the affected residents to maintain peace on the ongoing road expansion at Alalubosa area of the LG area

Hon. Akande apologised to affected residents who claimed they weren’t notified before the contractor started work on January 2, 2026.

However, according to reports, Hon. Akande actually stated that adequate prior notice was served to affected persons, ensuring they were aware of the impending demolition.

The Council Chairman noted that the peaceful meeting was called to maintain peace in the area while emphasizing on the importance of the road expansion to the commuters.

Speaking further he noted that the meeting aims to address concerns, provide clarity, and work together towards a mutual beneficial solution.He therefore appealed for calm and urged the aggrieved community to work together with the contractor. He then urged the contractor to show them the metres they are left with and the way forward

Honourable Kehinde Akande stressed that development is a good thing for every country and states, he noted that the road expansion will bring discomfort experienced by the residents as a result of the construction but assured the affected communities that their voices are heard and that their welfare remains a priority.

He said the road is for the good of the community as a whole to stop road traffic and to stop the continuous accident that keeps happening at the Alalubosa axis.
