In a bid to protect the health and well-being of its citizens, the Oyo State Government has launched a campaign to eradicate open defecation across the state.
Open defecation, the practice of defecating outside in public areas, has been identified as a major contributor to the spread of diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, and typhoid fever. This unsanitary practice not only poses a significant threat to public health but also undermines the state’s efforts to promote cleanliness and hygiene.
According to health experts, open defecation is a ticking time bomb that can have devastating consequences for individuals, families, and communities. “Sanitation is a critical aspect of public health, and open defecation is a serious threat to our collective well-being,” said a health official.
To combat this menace, the Oyo State Government is urging citizens to take immediate action. “We must work together to stop open defecation in our state,” said a government spokesperson. “We encourage everyone to report offenders and to support our efforts to promote cleanliness and hygiene.”
The campaign, tagged #CleanerOyo #SparklingCleanOyo, aims to raise awareness about the dangers of open defecation and to promote good sanitation practices across the state. Honourable Mojeed Mogbonjubola, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, reassured that the state government is committed to taking all necessary measures to safeguard a safe and clean environment for its citizens.
As Deepak Chopra once said, “Although we take it for granted, sanitation is a physical measure that has probably done more to increase human life span than any kind of drug or surgery.”
Join the movement to make Oyo State cleaner, healthier, and more sparkling. Report open defecation incidents and support the government’s efforts to promote sanitation and hygiene.
