Chief Executive Officer of Royal Boat Cruise, Eleyele, Ibadan, Prince Dr. Sammi Bamidele who is also the National Alumni President of Army Barracks School Iwo Road, Ibadan has been notified by Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) on plan to confer a prestigious honour in recognition of his contributions to the growth and cultural development of Ibadanland.
In a letter dated February 26, 2026, signed by the President-General of CCII, Barr. Chief Sulaiman A. Ajewole, the council disclosed that Prince Bamidele will be decorated with the title “Icon of Ibadan Heritage” during activities marking the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival.
The council stated that the honour is in appreciation of Bamidele’s immense contributions to the development and promotion of Ibadan’s cultural heritage, as well as his efforts in supporting initiatives that uplift the image of the ancient city.
According to the council, the award ceremony will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Royal Boat Cruise facility located in Eleyele, Ibadan.
CCII noted that the decoration is expected to inspire the awardee to continue his impactful work while motivating others to emulate his dedication to the progress of Ibadanland.
The event will also feature other cultural and recreational activities, including the Ayo Olopon and Table Tennis competitions, which will be held at the same venue on the same day as part of the festival celebrations.
The letter further conveyed warm greetings from the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, alongside the leadership of CCII and the people of Ibadanland.
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, described as the apex body of all socio-cultural clubs, societies, unions and associations of Ibadan indigenes both at home and abroad, reiterated its commitment to preserving the cultural heritage and promoting the socio-economic development of Ibadanland.
The council expressed appreciation in advance for the support of stakeholders and residents as preparations intensify for the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival.
