First Lady Tamunominini Makinde Hails Hon. Akintayo’s Impactful Leadership in Ibadan North East

The First Lady of Oyo State, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, has commended the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, for his exemplary leadership and commitment to grassroots development, citing his recent achievements in infrastructures and community empowerments.

The commendation was given on Tuesday during a high-profile empowerments programme and multiple projects commissioning ceremonies held at the council secretariat in Iwo Road, Ibadan. The event formed part of a week-long celebration marking Hon. Akintayo’s one-year anniversary in his second term in office.

The compere of the gorgeous event is an academician of note , historian and an orator in person of Dr. Abbey Bashorun popular known as Saint Abbey the onkoto of Yorubaland.

Projects commissioned at the event included a newly established Garri Processing Factory, a fully renovated Multipurpose Hall, and a refurbished Marriage Registry—all geared toward boosting local infrastructure, enhancing food security, and stimulating economic growth.

In her remarks, Mrs. Makinde described Akintayo’s leadership as “sterling and impactful,” noting that his track record continues to reflect a deep commitment to the welfare of his constituents. She urged other council chairmen in the state to emulate his visionary and inclusive governance style.

“The Garri Processing Factory is a commendable initiative that will create jobs, enhance food production, and support local enterprise,” the First Lady noted, adding that such developmental strides are vital for sustainable growth at the grassroots level.

Mrs. Makinde also praised the empowerment programme rolled out for residents of the local government, describing it as a major step toward economic self-reliance. However, she advised beneficiaries not to sell the empowerment items but to use them effectively to improve their livelihoods.

The event was attended by political stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents, many of whom lauded Hon. Akintayo’s administration for its impactful projects and people-centered initiatives.

The empowerment and commissioning ceremonies marked the second day of a week-long anniversary programme. The celebration had earlier kicked off with media engagements, including a live appearance on Fresh FM, a thanksgiving service, fuel palliative distribution for Okada riders, and the distribution of educational materials to students.

Subsequent activities include the commissioning of Taiwo Alaka Primary Health Care Centre, the new ultramodern JONKU Market, and a dedicated security upgrade with the opening of a newly constructed Operation Burst Office.

Hon. Akintayo’s administration continues to receive accolades for setting a benchmark in local governance and inclusive development within Oyo State.
