Security agencies and community leaders in Ibarapa North Local Government have resolved to strengthen coordination and intelligence sharing to curb crime and enhance public safety in the area.
The resolution was reached yesterday during a security meeting convened by the Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Honourable Lateef Akorede, at his office.

In attendance were Divisional Police Officers, officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Amotekun Corps, traditional rulers, and representatives of KAI Security.
Addressing participants, Hon. Akorede said the current security situation in Oyo State demands intensified vigilance, stronger inter-agency coordination, and seamless communication between security actors and community stakeholders. He stressed that securing Ibarapa North requires a united, proactive, and intelligence-driven approach.

He urged residents to adopt the “See Something, Say Something” approach and called on traditional rulers to sensitize communities to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies. Timely information from the public, he said, is critical to preventing crime before it occurs.

The meeting ended with a collective commitment from all committee members to sustain continuous engagement and cooperation to ensure lasting peace, safety, and socio-economic development in Ibarapa North.
Security agency representatives commended Hon. Akorede’s proactive leadership and support for prioritizing security matters. They pledged continued backing for initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property in the local government.
The session concluded with prayers for peace, progress, and stability in Ibarapa North, Oyo State, and Nigeria, offered by the Chief Imam and the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the area.
