NYCN Chairmen Hail Governor Makinde’s Youth-Focused Leadership, Seek Greater Inclusion in Governance

As part of their national consultative engagements, the 36 State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), alongside the Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), paid a solidarity visit to Oyo State to commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his exceptional commitment to youth-inclusive governance.

The delegation, received at the Governor’s Office by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Adeyinka Adeniyi, and the Special Assistant on Political Matters, Hon. Adeyemo Adedeji Ola, lauded the Governor’s sustained youth empowerment policies and strategic appointment of young people into key positions within his administration.

Speaking on behalf of the Council, the NYCN leaders described Governor Makinde as a trailblazer whose governance style has made Oyo State a national model for youth development, empowerment, and leadership integration.

In his welcome address, Hon. Adeyinka Adeniyi commended the NYCN Chairmen for their dedication to youth development across the country and reaffirmed the Makinde-led administration’s openness to youth engagement.

Also speaking, the Special Assistant on Political Matters, Hon. Adeyemo Adedeji Ola, conveyed the Governor’s appreciation for the visit and emphasized the administration’s unwavering commitment to expanding opportunities for young people across all levels of governance. He further used the occasion to highlight Governor Makinde’s impactful youth-centric policies and programmes, stressing their positive effects on the lives of young citizens in the state.

The engagement session featured an open dialogue during which the NYCN Chairmen, through the Chairman of Chairmen, Comrade AbdulSalam Qodril who also doubles as the Oyo State NYCN Chairman made a passionate appeal for deeper collaboration like increased youth involvement in state-led initiatives, provision of official mobility support for the Oyo State NYCN Chapter, and so on.

The solidarity visit was described as both symbolic and productive, further affirming Oyo State’s leadership in championing inclusive governance and youth empowerment in Nigeria.
