The first phase of the stage in determining the next One-Day House of Representatives Member for Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North has been conducted.

One-Day Rep Member is an initiative of Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju and is geared towards engaging young minds with the aim of producing future legislators from the federal constituency; raising the hopes of children to become successful irrespective of their socio-economic status; incorporating youth-driven initiatives that were previously side-lined and producing intellectually minded young leaders for the development of the constituency.
The aptitude test, which was held across the constituency on Saturday, May 3, 2025, saw 10 students from each of the five communities emerge for the next phase of the initiative. In the examination, the students were tested on Mathematics, English Language and General Knowledge, with each question carrying equal marks.
In Igboora, six students from Favourland College qualified for the next phase of the initiative (the school that produced the incumbent One-Day Rep Member). Each town produced 10 candidates, of which six emerged from Favourland College, Igboora, three from Hopecrest College and one from Igboora High School. Out of the six qualified students from Favourland College, five of them emerged first, second, third, fourth and fifth in the aptitude test conducted throughout the constituency, while the sixth student from the same school also emerged seventh.
In Idere, two students emerged from Okedere High School, two from Oyo State School of Science, one each from Ayelogun Grammar School, Angel’s Height College, Igboora Secondary School, Hopecrest College, Royal Star College and Igboora High School.
In Ayete, three students emerged from Angel’s Heights College, two from Muslim Academy, two from Royal Star College, one from each of Oyo State School of Science, Ayete Grammar School and Goodness College.
In Tapa, four students qualified from Jubilant Islamic Model School, three from Angel’s Height College, one from each of Maku Grammar School, Tapa Community High School and Oyo State School of Science.
In Igangan, three students emerged from Royal Diadem College, four from Success Muslim College, three from His Mercy College.
By how each community performed in the exercise, Igboora came first with 11 marks out of 30 questions, Idere came second with 8 marks, while Igangan came third with 7 marks.
The aptitude test was invigilated by Nation Youth Service Corps Members and closely monitored by the executive members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in collaboration with members of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The topic for the next stage is “BORN IN IBARAPA, DREAMING BEYOND BORDERS: THE LOCAL HEROES WHO INSPIRE ME.” The essay is expected to be submitted on or before Saturday, May 24, 2025, via https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScFJ9EdGXK9aYAuQy1vXhz9DxlPxTtVu1j3Su3ZDKfU80vLvQ/viewform?usp=sf_link after which, one student in each community will qualify for the grand finale scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
